Mislabelled LEGO Lord of the Rings discs for Xbox 360 recalled by Warner Bros
Warner Bros has announced a limited recall of the copies of Xbox 360 version of LEGO Lord of the Rings because of mislabelled “Demo” discs.
Upon opening the cover of the game released on November 13, some Xbox 360 users found themselves staring at a demo disc of LEGO Lord of the Rings instead of the full retail version.
The victims also included the editor of Game Informer and thus the news of the error made by Warner Bros spread like a wild-fire in a dry forest.
Upon getting informed about the issue faced by some of the consumers who had purchased the Xbox 360 version of the game, the company immediately investigated the issue.
In a statement released shortly afterwards, Warner Bros confirmed that there were indeed a problem with labelling on some of the discs for the Xbox 360.
However, it assured gamers that irrespective of what the label stated, the disc contained the full content of the game and will not face any problems while playing LEGO Lord of the Rings whatsoever.
Warner Bros also conceded that it is recalling copies of the Xbox 360 version of the game from a few retailers, which include Wal-Mart, Toys ‘R’ Us and Target with the intention of replacing them with remanufactured discs.
"The discs in question are incorrectly labeled as demo discs, but those discs do contain the full game content and are fully functional," reads a line from the statement. "This error does not affect any other formats of the game. We are in the process of
remanufacturing the discs and will get them to the stores as soon as possible. Consumers who purchased a copy of the Xbox 360 version of the game with the disc labelling error can contact customer support via email at support@wbgames.com or phone at 410-568-3680
for a replacement disc."
It is hard to predict whether the issues with the labelling of discs will take its toll on the overall performance of the game in terms of sales. One thing that can be said with certainty though is that the quick response of Warner Bros to the issue is a
great move as the holiday season is just around the corner.
