FC Koln defender Miso Brecko has underlined the importance of a good start to the upcoming season. The player admitted that the past 12 months have been rather unconvincing but hoped to make a strong comeback in the next campaign.
FC Koln finished the season in 10th place with a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Total-c40747 of 44 points in the 34 games played. The Billy Goats were in the relegation zone at the start of the year but some good results in the last few games made survival
possible.
Brecko insisted that a good start to the campaign is very important as that would take the pressure off players and hoped to end the next season on a successful note. The defender claimed that the team will have to assess its weak
points and make sure they are not repeated again.
“It's important for us to get off to a good start. I don't think we're any worse than those teams in terms of quality. We just have to make sure everything comes together,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former Hamburg SV player admitted that his side was lucky to save the last season and is lucky to still be playing in the Bundesliga after a series of poor results in the beginning. However, he hoped that the same does not
happen again.
“Fortunately we managed to save our season in the end, but we don't want to go through that again,” he continued.
The Slovenian international added that the club should set targets for the upcoming season and place challenges for the players so that the performances could improve. He claimed that FC Koln has a very competitive squad and there
is no reason for them to fear anyone.
“You have to set yourself clear targets. If you don't challenge yourself, you won't be successful. We have no reason to fear anyone,” the defender concluded.
Miso Brecko has so far made 93 league appearances for Koln and has scored two goals in the process. The player also has 44 international caps to his name and is yet to score his first goal for the country.
