Question:

Misogyny and paranoia toward women

The top suspect in the 2001 Anthrax attacks apparently suffered from extreme paranoia regarding women, and was obsessed with a Princeton sorority.

Marc Lepine, the Virginia Tech shooter, and now the Anthrax suspect...is misogyny and extreme paranoia regarding women (like the kind you see on this board all the time) generally indicative of a mental health issue?

  1. A lot of men might be opposed to feminism, but very few of them act like this. These two are certifiable nutters.

  2. There was also the case of the man pulling the little boys out of the schoolhouse in PA and shooting just the girls.

We've always had these cases, it's part of the misogyny that exists on a certain level in society. It's why there is gender-based violence.

Some men have an unrealistic fear of women - how they react to it varies. In the 1800s Symbolist artists created the femme fatale, destroyer of man. Now, we know they were gynophobic and misogynist. It's incredible that we allow it to continue - that's what gets me. We here about these cases, little red flags, and we just sail right passed them, rarely considering the whole picture or how it came to exist.

And, yes, you're right - there are guys on this forum that exhibit this fear and loathing. Many of the FAthers Righters guys, conservatives, right wingers, etc. hold some similar views. They blame women and feminism on all their problems and all of the world's problems. They call women vicious liars and try to take away support for female victims of violence. Lots of Angry Harries out there....I'm just waiting for a counter-attack - how long will we permit them to go on like this? There's been too much leniency as is

  3. Thank goodness that sort of behavior is fairly rare. Most men love women (and sports).

  4. Misanthropy, in general, as exhibited by modern Feminists is, indeed, pathologic and increases the tendency toward antisocial/ violent and brutal behaviour.

Love will ALWAYS triumph over the utter hatred of modern Feminism, for love is stronger than hatred.  No hatred will ever be able to destroy that which is good and righteous in the long term.  Modern Feminism is an egregious and insidious threat to society, the greatest fear I have, but I trust that love will triumph over this wicked philosophy which promotes misanthropy; I do trust it so.

  5. Duh! Any extreme paranoia is generally indicative of a mental health issue, doctor!  Me thinks the term PARANOIA generally means something "ain't right."

I'm also impressed by your sharp intelligence in how you (like the rest of the dullards of our present society) jump to a conclusion about a case based on initial hypotheses raised by unspecified sources. Put down that crack pipe, and start reading books. Maybe then you'll finally read what is exactly written on a page.

  6. I think that gynophobia could lead to a misogynist acting out in a violent way.  Not because he is a man because normal men are non-violent unless provoked.  However men who feel provoked by a women simply speaking her mind or choosing to not like him are a little too far on the edge for mental stability.
