Miss America Regulations

Question

I did some research on miss america competition, i've found that you can not have ever been pregnant or have any kids to compete. also you can't have any tattoos. do you think this is fair?

Yeah, it's a private contest, so they can make up the rules.  There is a Mrs. America contest, maybe it's less restrictive.

I think there is an age restriction too with Miss America.

At any rate, I would not qualify with any of those rules, lol.

Plus about the tatoos, they want girls who look perfect a tatoo is not going to look good.

I don't know about the other, I once heard my mom saying that keeping a perfect shape becomes harder after the first kid but no idea.

But whenether it's fair or not, is a private organization and it doesn't matter....it's like wandering if it's fair to not allow people with normal IQ in the MENSA organization....

That's their rule, and anyways, big deal.

I think that women who go into Miss America Pageants know what they are getting into before signing up to compete. If they choose to continue on with it, then they are choosing to forgo their rights to children for the time being.

I, personally, would never be in such a ridiculous competition for any reason. Insanity! :P

Yes.  It is a private organization with rule and standards.  Being the "Miss" America composition these girls are not married and therefore the wholesome image is warranted. As a result not being pregnant or not having tattoos is a standard set by the organization.

EDIT- No, they don't the "Mrs." America competition does require the women to be married and some have children...I am not sure about tattoos or age though.

Of course it isn't fair. It just goes to show how limited the standard of American beauty is according to the pageant people.
