Miss Empire to emerge triumphant from the Landaluce Stakes at the Betfair Hollywood Park
Miss Empire is one of the juveniles competing in the $150,000 Landaluce Stakes scheduled to take place at the Betfair Hollywood Park on 14th July, 2012.
Taking place over a distance of six furlongs, the daughter of Empire Maker, out of Miss Excitement, might be able to notch this, considering she’s tasted victory before.
Trained by Peter Miller for owners Cecil Barber, Gary Barber and Kevin Tsujihara, the young runner scored in the Cinderella Stakes at the Betfair Hollywood Park on 16th June, 2012, where she rode in the hands of Kevin Krigger
and, successfully completed the 5 1/2 furlong course in 1 minute and 5.00 seconds defeating, Awesome Annie, by a large margin of 4 ¾ lengths.
The Kentucky bred runner delivered a solid performance in her debut as well when she finished in fourth place over 4 ½ furlongs.
Paired with the same rider, the two-year-old will be paired with Kevin Krigger again and, will race as a high-weight of 121 pounds.
Against seven other juveniles, it seems that everything is working in favour of the filly, but the only issue might be the distance.
To dominate this race, Dan and Frank Cassella bred runner will have to work harder to cope with the stretched out distance. One thing that will give her an edge over the other runners is her prior experience.
Speedinthruthecity, Miss Empire’s stable-mate, will also try her luck in this race. This race serves as her debut and, the filly will ride under Joseph Talamo.
Hall Of Fame trainer, Bob Baffert, is also taking a shot in this race with Executiveprivilege, who is under the ownership of Michael E. Pegram, Karl Watson and Paul Weitman and will be paired with jockey, Rafael Bejarano.
Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer has decided to enter Wildcat Angie, and he is hoping that this race will successfully begin her season.
This happened for Killer Graces last year, who landed a victory in the Landaluce and, went on to compete in the Grade 2 Hollywood Oaks where she finished in fourth place over 1 1/16 miles on 23rd June, 2012.
