Miss Ferney looks strong for Racing Again Next Monday - 20th August Handicap
After winning the Royal Scots Club Handicap on the good to firm track of Musselburgh, the Alan Kirtley trained chestnut mare, Miss Ferney, looks to be the strongest candidate for the high-voltage race of the Racing Again Next Monday - 20th August Handicap that is going to take place in the similar conditions on Monday, August 13.
On the 2-mile course of Thirsk, the eight-year-old veteran mare will run against a dozen of rivals. On winning, she will be awarded £1,941.
The maverick mare has been at rest for almost nine months. She last ran on October 7, 2011. During the second half of the last year, the brilliant daughter of Cayman Kai out of Jendorcet made some iconic marks.
First, she won Hold Your Christmas Party @ Redcar Racecourse Handicap (Div II) on September 1 and then finished first in the Northallerton And Dales Branch of Samaritans Handicap in the similar conditions on September 17.
On September 25, she elegantly claimed the ace title of the Royal Scots Club Handicap that took place at Musselburgh.
These regular victories boosted up the mare’s morale to great extent. During the off-field period, Miss Ferney gained plenty of useful training that she will use to stage a strong comeback at Thirsk.
As a whole, the K. And P. J. Garthwaite bred sprinter has won 6 of her total 32 starts. From all aspects, she seems to be a strong candidate for today’s marathon, but she will have to be cautious of Bijou Dan who has enough potential to cause an upset.
The George Moore trained chestnut gelding marvellously finished as the runner-up in each of his last two starts. The one was Yorkshire Outdoors Adventure Experiences Handicap that took place at Thirsk on June 25 while the other was Racing Again Next Wednesday Handicap, held at Catterick on July 4.
Overall, the 95-race veteran horse has 14 victories to his name. In this situation, Miss Ferney will need to run extra-ordinarily well in order to manoeuvre success to her favour.
The spectators will have an amazing event to enjoy. Let us catch the live action at Thirsk.
