Miss Hayley Moore sets sights on Fegentri championship
While her brother, Ryan Moore, is aiming to win Flat jockeys' championship this year, Miss Hayley Moore has set sights on the Fegentri world women amateur riders' title.
Both riders are in terrific form at the moment and they are determined to carry forward the great legacy of their family.
Ryan is currently getting ready for new British season while his sister has started her preparations for the global challenge, starting later this week.
Hayley is solely focusing on the Fegentri series, putting all of her other activities aside. She is very excited about the high profile event, which will continue till the end of 2012.
Talking about her first appearance in the Fegentri series, the rider shared that she always dreamt of taking part in the series and she is delighted to partake in the championship this year.
Hayley said:
"I've always wanted to represent Britain in this championship, but you have to have ridden five winners to compete and I didn't manage that until last November, just in time to accept the invitation for this year."
"Dad was very keen for me to take part in the Fegentri championship and it will definitely take precedence, but as I'm a freelance, I'm sure I can work the broadcasting around the various races in the series. Amateurs get very few opportunities to ride overseas
so trying to win the title is my major target this year," she added.
The female jockey, who rides out for trainer-father Gary Moore, has been doing a wonderful job over the last couple of years. In 2011, Hayley sealed top position in a Racing For Change competition, registering her name as Great Britain’s first female racecourse
commentator.
While Hayley is all set for women’s Fegentri series, the Scottish-born rider, Mikey Ennis, will represent Great Britain in men’s category of the championship.
The amateur, who recently joined David Pipe's stable, termed it as a great opportunity to represent Britain in the mega event.
He also described that he would like to become a professional at some stage of his career and a good performance in the Fegentri series will be a huge step forward towards his destination.
