Miss Three Bells rings up a big win at Hove
Every greyhound race is full of guarantees. For the fans, it is guaranteed that many of them will enjoy themselves at the races. For the dogs, it is guaranteed that one of them will be
billed as the favourite, and that one of them will eventually emerge victorious. Another guarantee is the overall unpredictability of each race. No one knows how each dog will fare, especially when wit, predictions, and odds come into play.
One thing that was guaranteed during the early 515m races at the Coral Brighton and Hove Greyhound Stadium on Friday was a good time for all in attendance. The day began with an A9 race
that saw even-odds favourite Miss Three Bells answer the bell for a victory. An early pace from trap one allowed her to lead first en route to a finishing time of 30.73. Swift Fountain (4-1) lay claim on second place in 30.89, which was 2 lengths behind the
winner.
Third place went to Peggys Charm (6-1), who crowded the run up, but finished well with a time of 31.01. She missed second place by 1½ lengths. Reenard Eric (4-1) also crowded the run up,
but finished ¾ lengths out of the top three in 31.07 to earn fourth place.
Finishing fifth was 10-1 long shot Ballyneale Billy, who moved slowly away from the pack. He went on to finish in 31.08, which was just a head’s length behind Reenard Eric. Crossfield
Aoife (6-1) finished a shoulder behind Ballyneale Billy to take last place. She baulked fourth, and completed the race in 31.09.
Alexandre (4-1) was the winner of the A5 race that followed. Coming out of trap three, she led third and never looked back. She finished in great form with a time of 30.25. Icy Tiger (5-1),
the second-place finisher, ran on to finish the race in 30.37, 1½ lengths behind Alexandre. Third place was claimed by Willfatwelldigger (3-1), who had a stumbled start from trap one. He recovered to finish the race in 30.37, which placed him a neck’s length
behind second.
The favourite in this race was Southcot Chief, with 9-4 odds. He moved quickly away from the pack and baulked halfway, which resulted in a fourth-place finish in 30.67. He missed out on
a top-three finish by just a neck’s length. Broadacres Shaun (5-1) checked in with a fifth-place finish in 30.71 that was a ½ length behind Southcot Chief. Rounding out the pack was Arriva Vidergi (7-2), who was a head behind fifth place. He finished the race
in 30.73.
Will the bells toll for Miss Three Bells again? Find out when greyhound racing action returns to Coral Brighton and Hove Greyhound Stadium on Saturday, October 9. The first race of the
night begins at 19:30.
