Miss Tique favourite for Competent Roofer Mares´ Novices´ Hurdle
Miss Tique is expected to win the Competent Roofer Mares´ Novices´ Hurdle at Chepstow in England on Thursday, March 22, 2012. The class-4 event has a cash prize of £2,274 for the triumphant horse.
The going will be good to soft in the 2 mile 110 yard race, which is scheduled to start at 2:10 GMT. A total of 14 runners have been attracted towards the race event and their names are: Valmari, Golden Firebird, Queen Of Mantua, Miss Tique, Frolic Along,
Commerce, Timeforagin, Miss Powderkeg, Now What, Tihui Sept, Rileys Legend, Kaduna, Mysula and Just Kates Girl.
The bookmakers have given pretty decent odds to Miss Tique, despite the fact that she does not have a good strike rate in races over hurdles. She has entered five of them, winning just once, which might discourage the punters from placing bets in her favour.
However, the four-year-old filly showed good rhythm in her most recent outing, as she finished runner up in the Charlie Longsdon Racing Juvenile Hurdle at Warwick. She was unable to challenge the race winner, but impressed one and all with his performance.
Venetia Williams’ trainee will be partnered by Aidan Coleman, who has got an impressive record in hurdles, winning 132 of them. He will be looking forward to another impressive run today.
The bookmakers have also shown faith in the abilities of Valmari, who has shown some decent form recently. She has quite a lot of experience overall, but has raced over hurdles only once.
However, the nine-year-old mare did not seem to have any problems in her race over hurdles, as she managed to win it comfortably. She was not the favourite to win that event and was given a starting price of 40 to 1 by the bookmakers. Despite that, she ended
up on top by a clear margin of 13 lengths.
Tom Symonds’ trainee will be partnered by Felix De Giles, who has earned 82 race victories over hurdles.
Other than the top two favourites, Golden Firebird will also be the one to watch out for. She has not won any hurdle until now, but the punters will be encouraged to place bets on her, as she will be ridden by veteran jockey, Robert Thornton, who has won
237 hurdles.
The rest of the participants do not look in good shape at the moment, thus they will not have any chances of winning.
