Question:

Missed period for three months...?

I was on Yaz to control terrible cramping for three months (January-March), but went off the pill b/c of risk of breast cancer later in life. I've also been on Synthroid for a hypo-active thyroid since December, but my doctor keeps changing the dose. In June, I was completely off the medication, and then in mid-July I was switched to 12.5mg. I have also been feeling terribly nauseous, tired despite 8-9 hrs of sleep a night, and head-achy for the past two weeks.

Are the missed periods simply caused by my body trying to get used to the medicine? Or might it be something else?

P.S I'm most definitely NOT pregnant...

  1. I am a CCMA

Birth control WILL NOT cease your periods you will only get about 4 a year.. You will miss them you will get them they DO NOT cease...

Yes it could be the B/C but you should also be tested for PCOS as the symptoms of PCOS are similar to what you described.. Many women assume that they are pregnant, because they have the symptoms and they actually have PCOS

  2. Please talk to your doctor about your symptoms.  We can guess, low thyroid can cause lack of menstruation, and it sounds like medication side effects, but no one out here can tell for sure.
