I ordered a motherboard for my computer on Ebay from China a couple of weeks ago. It made it from china to the US in 5 days. Since 01/13/08 it has been at JFK with no Update. I have contacted Both the US post Office and EMS CHina and all they will give me is the following

Inbound International Arrival, January 13, 2008, 2:58 am, JOHN F. KENNEDY APT/NEW YORK

Origin Post is Preparing Shipment

Foreign International Dispatch, January 09, 2008, 1:14 pm, GUANGZHOU EMS, CHINA PEOPLES REP

Foreign Acceptance, January 08, 2008, 3:05 pm

No One can seem to tell me when it will leave NY to get to me in Massachusetts. I could have walked there by now. Does anyone know how to get more information or how long this can take. I am a web designer and every day my computer is broken I'm losing money.

  1. Usually goods coming into to country need to go through a customs inspection first.  It can take awhile sometimes.

  2. I've ordered items from China and it really depends on how it was shipped, I've had things take over a month and then I've had things take 2 weeks. Have you tried to contact where the package was last?

  3. honestly, I would be very frustrated!!

  4. small packages by airfreight is something that has many potential hiccup points...I will give you a few scenarios that could have prevented your package from either 1. being exported. 2. being loaded on to the aircraft 3. being imported in to USA.

Freight is usually loaded in to containers or onto large aircraft pallets to fly to the USA. There are many factors that could cause the offload of one or more of these containers...these include the weather/weight/ load/fuel that the captain must take in to consideration before filing a full flight plan. If something needs to be taken off beofre departure then the freight will come off first as this has lower priority over passengers and passenger baggage and fuel.

I t is extremely likely that a container (that your package is in) has been offloaded and is awaiting an allocation to a new flight. You have to remember, just because its coming from a foreign aiport doesnt mean that its not landing somewhere en-route and loading more containers or even taking some off

This would mean that most airlines would put this container as prioirty for the next flight, but that is not always the case. freight can be delayed over 2 weeks

  5. i work in shipping, and almost every package that we send/ receive via inernational is always a problem with it, bc people steal, to be honest i highly doubt u will ever receive that package, hopefully when they sent it, they weren't dumb enough to put the description outside the box.

  6. I order alot from china off of ebay and yes takes along time to get through customs usualy they never open it I think maby one out of 50 will my package get opened but your item is a electronic so maby they take extra precautions before they let it pass. Well with all of that said it probably will take about 3 weeks from china to you in the US to get. Next time you should ask them to send DHL its alot faster but does cost alot more money so depending on they money you are saving on the product is it worth waiting for it to clear customs?

  7. Track your package with the carrier that is sending it.

Usually with a tracking number , you can get a report on where it is exactly and how soon you will get it.

Usually , things from other countries go through customs. Maybe that is holding it up the delivery.
