I'm not diabetic, but my doctor has prescribed Metformin for me to take twice a day.

Is it dangerous if I forget to take a dose of my Metformin?

  1. If you're not diabetic, perhaps your doctor ordered Metformin for PCOS. Anyway, I don't think it's dangerous to miss a dose. Just make sure you follow your doctor's recommendations.

  2. Metformin reduces insulin and androgen levels which will treat PCOS and will restore ovulation. It also regulates the amount of sugar, so if you are not diabetic you should not worry. However take it as subscribed by your doctor.

  3. Pineapple, if the doctor rx'd metformin for you, you are diabetic. Metformin is an oral diabetic medication. You should check your blood sugars and see where your at. I take my meds both morning and night, but if my blood sugars are in line, I don't have to take my morning dose of metformin. but , you should take your meds as rx'd. Your blood sugar ranges should be 80-200 (thats the range that our hospital uses), if it is outside of that range I would be nervous and call your Dr.
