I'm missing my old and helpful functions from Musicmatch in the new Yahoo! Music:

1) convert Files

2) rename Files

3) edit Album Picture

Is Yahoo willing to add these functions again to the new product? Does anyone know about? Thx

  1. This is a good question.  I have lifetime version of MusicMatch Paid for but many features have disappeared (Rename Files, Album Art as you say).  The Import has messed up my Library so now Artist is replaced by track-number  (I have hundreds of tracks by a band called '01', '02' etc).  Can't even fix it by group edit like you could in MusicMatch, at least then I could recover tag info from file-names.

The Banner we got saying we MUST upgrade said we would be getting better and improved features, not lessof them!

Is Yahoo going to put these features back?  Yahoo does say they have the same software development team, so must be just 'cut and paste' of some code.  :-)

The best answer will have to come from Yahoo! I reckon.

  2. I've stuck with Musicmatch because of how I can organize and sort my library how I want it, now I have to go through huge lists of artists to find albums, then click albums to get to songs. It's very unintuitive, and not only that, it totally destroys any chance you have at viewing a soundtrack/various artist album.

Couple that with the total lack of control over the album's cover art and you have an extremely bad user interface.

It also appears that the 'migration' tool does not convert the Musicmatch specific ID3 tags, so tracks that you have ripped/tagged in Musicmatch are titled by the file name. I cannot find an option to rebuild the ID3 information from file name, so it looks like I would have to update every track manually.

This is an extremely disappointing move, and I have every intention of sticking with Musicmatch even though it will be discontinued.

  3. Yes and I found out today that the support from G-Force is not avaialble either. I paid for that to run nicely in MusicMatch and now found that (by asking G-Force team) that Yahoo doesn't have an API for this type of plugins. Not good. I really hope Yahoo enswers these user questions because both what you are missing and I are not good moves.
