  1. I totally agree. Why not give it high priority.

  2. this subject is harsh, i mean with all the crime going on, What are the police doing all day, EATING donuts. They need a kick up the bum and find ALL those missing children including Shannon

  3. They aren't classy or pretty enough for us to care - or so you would think.

  4. Because she is not pretty enough or rich enough.  Contrast this with the terribly middle class 15 year old who was allegedly raped and murdered in India.  She through a strop and her mummy and daddy left her in a bar, getting drunk.  Her mother has had the verdict of accidental death overturned, and is being applauded for her stregnth.  If she had any stregnth she would have dragged her daughter out the bar, locked her in a room and smacked her belligerent teenage backside!!!  Instead, the poor girl was left, in a foreign country, to drink in a bar, be raped and murdered.  Like the McCanns, these people seek to blame everyone else for the fate of their child but do not have the self awareness to look in the mirror and realise it was their own actions that led to the abduction of their pretty blonde children.  My heart bleeds for Shannons parents, it is bad enough to lose your kid but to be constantly told they are the wrong class and their girl isn't pretty enough to put on the front page is despicable!

  5. Everyone on here and every newspaper seems to spend more time complaining Shannon isn't getting enough publicity than actually discussing the case itself!

  6. It was on the BBC breakfast news this morning - repeated every half hour.  The news story made the family look very suspect I think.

There is something very wrong here and I think that's why there has been so little news.  I felt queasy after seeing the news item this morning - they are being shown in a very bad light.

  7. I did wonder about it-not why she isnt in the lead story but whether she had been found? I hadnt heard about it since  it was first broadcasted. How strange, if nobody knows about it then how will people help to find her? Like i said i wasnt even aware that she was still missing! They should at least do a story on her every day just so people  know that she is still missing and come forward with any information, especially with all the recent abductions that have been happening around Uk. :O/

  8. i don't no but they went on enough about Maddie mccann but the family did keep the appeals going maybe that's the reason theres more to this case than meets the eye

  9. The mother didn't go to the right university, they didn't have a friend with broadcast quality footage ready to roll, they didn't have Gordon Brown's phone number, the father isn't in the right "clubs" ;-), in fact, they couldn't "call in favours" from many people at all.

It shows what a disgusting class ridden society you are living in, really sad, I hope Shannon gets justice too.

  10. There are many news items which are not broadcast!! The media has too much power in deciding what is newsworthy or not!!

How about the 80 odd people killed in Gaza last week? Did anyone remember seeing that on TV?

  11. What i think is a great shame is that this missing little girl has not had the same publicity as missing Madelaine McCann.

  12. It's only fun to pull people down from a pedestal - the media put the McCanns on one and everyone has had their kicks pulling them down from it ever since.  The Matthews can't really be put on a pedestal to pull them down from.  It seems from local news sources that Shannon is very much on local people's minds and perhaps they don't really need the full glare of the media on them.

The police are doing their job and searching the area; there's nothing more to say except - poor kid.

  13. i agree with you ginger,if someone is holding little Shannon then the coverage should have been the same as for Maddie then she might have been seen because everyone would be watching out for her,as it is i have a mental pic of Maddie in my mind but i wouldn,t recognise poor little Shannon God bless her

  14. I think your wrong about the class thing, the two cases are different. The tabloids rounded on the mcanns because they were seen as so called professionals, and they were seen as negligent. In wee Shannon's case there is no scandal to sell their grubby papers. i disagree with you we Shannon is a pretty, happy wee lookin girl , i hope she is ok.May be the macanns could help Shannon's parents.

  15. Why is so much news time being dedicated to the gruesome finds at Haute La Garenne?Did those poor orphaned kids come from middle class families? ...I don't think so.

  16. The reason is Politics and money, that's why McJeckyll & McHide got away with it.

Shannon's family don't seem to care about Politics and money, they just seem to care about their own daughter and being honest with their feelings.

That's why you don't see much about Shannon.

    Have a star.

  17. The same question has be posted on here for days, take it up with them and stop going on about not being middle class as we all know you are on about madeleine mccann.

  18. What rubbish. British servicemen being routinely killed  in Afghanistan, suicide bombers in Iraq and accounts of genocide in Darfur are also newsworthy stories.

Paula is right, get over it.

EDIT: Unfortunately, the point you are making is so evidently not about the child and is instead based on a prejudiced view of so-called class within British society. Shame on you for dragging the fate of a little child into your embittered social commentary.

EDIT2. Apologies if I have misinterpreted the following statement '...is the family not middle class enough for our papers then?...' to be a class related gripe. I think you'll agree that it certainly reads that way. I also don't recall making any comment about your social standing or class although you appear to have made assumptions about mine. I simply pointed out the unattractive prejudices. I stand by my comment that it is shameful to use a missing child case to launch unconnected and opportunistic social invective. It's just an observation, not a personal insult.

  19. I'm sure the parents must be very relieved to be free of the media circus that surrounded the McCann case, with all the suspicion, pointing fingers, and criticism.

The police are doing their job, there's not much more to say, is there?

Except, poor little girl.  And why are there so many paedophiles living in that area?  They should all be in jail.  Forever.

  20. This was highlighted to tonight's One Show on BBC 1.

At the same stage when Maddy went missing there had been

    - 700 news items

    - 2 mil reward money put up

    - Audience with the pope

    - Rich & famous coming forward

But in the case of little Shannon...............

People said at the time 'If a child of  single mum on a council estate went missing - would there be the same fuss????'

Well now know the answer for sure don't we.
