This is what the bike SHOULD look like as a fully restored Yamaha YL1/YL1E

I was wondering if anyone could identify what parts were missing and need to be bought to restore the bike back to working conditions, as i myself have very little motor experience.

  1. probably best to leave that project to someone who's passionate about classic bikes and has the know how knowledge, but if you're looking for a really challenging hobby to occupy lots of your free time, then have a go at it. Don't start working on it unless you know you WILL complete the work. you will never get your money's worth out of an uncompleted project and nobody's going to pay you full value what you put into it.

  2. >>> as i myself have very little motor experience.

Restoring a car or motorcycle requires a LOT of car knowledge.  If you don't know much then it is NOT for you.

Also there's very little value in that bike.  It would be cheaper to get a working bike.

    Good Luck...

  3. As long as you approach it as an exercise to gain experience I think it would be a fine/fun project. There are a few other projects on the go that might help you can always contact them for advice. I can't help with identifying parts as I don't know that model but they are fairly simple models it should become obvious if you approach it as a straight route from, for example, the fuel supply through the engine to the exhaust.
