Question:

Missing pictures?

Why did 360 remove some pics I had on my 360 page? One did have a guy in a speedo, but nothing you wouldn't see at a beach. They didn't even send me a message saying "this picture was removed for this reason..." Do they frown on copyrighted images? It didn't say anything about that in the photo policy link.

  1. That just means some one came across your page and reported your picture for being inappropriate to them in their opinion.

    OR

It most likely wasnt removed, but is in fact a glitch in the system. If you go to my 360 page you will only see two pics can be displayed. I use to have four, but because Yahoo is busy trying to improve this site there are a lot of "bugs." Avatars, disappearing is one of those problems. It may reappear if you try re-adding it again. If it doesn't show up then that is your answer. And that in fact no one reported your avatars you had up. Especially if you claim you never got an email about it being reported.

  2. Don't assume that your image was removed for violations of community guidelines. Frankly, the personal profile picture module has been buggy for years. Many people have reported images disappearing, image spots becoming unusable, and other problems. It's possible that the image will return in a few days.

However, it is also possible that you could have been reported for a violation of either 360 guidelines (http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/360/gui... ) or Yahoo Terms of Service (http://docs.yahoo.com/info/terms/ , specifically something in section 6). Yahoo is under no obligation to inform you of anything really, based on the Terms of Service that you agreed to when you created your Yahoo account. If your image is copyrighted, that is a possible reason for removal (see http://info.yahoo.com/copyright/details.... for details). Links to these rules/guidelines are usually shown at the bottom of Yahoo pages.

The personal profile pic module is a public module, which could be viewed by anyone on the Internet (including those under age 13). So, this why they have the following suggestion, as stated in the 360 guidelines:

"If you are unsure whether your content is appropriate or consistent with these policies, please err on the side of caution and do not post it in Yahoo! 360°."

And I'll add, if you are an adult user, just put the content in your blog and designate it as "mature content". If you are not an adult, then don't post the content.

You don't have to put your entire blog on "mature content". You can do it for individual entries:

    - You can access blog settings by clicking the "Settings" link at the top and clicking "Blog Settings" on the left OR while in "My Blog" clicking "Edit Blog Settings" in the top center of the 360 window. If you set it for the entire blog now, you still have to go back to previous entries and designate any that contain mature/adult content as such.

    - For individual entries, click the "Edit" link below an entry, click the "Show Options" link and check the mature content option, then re-save.
