Missing tooth?

I am going to get braces, and I am wondering. I have a missing tooth, so soon I will have to get implants, but the ortho. said that I will have a fake tooth in my mouth the whole time I have my braces and my retainer (like the tooth will be connected to the braces then when I get them off I will have a fake tooth on my retainer too) do you think I should clean them as if they were my own teeth. is it going to be connected to my gums or not? oh yeah and my missing tooth is on the bottom.

  1. YES

  2. the fake tooth will be wired on the braces just to hold the space. the tooth will not be attached to your gum, it cannot be removed, also you cannot use it to chew or bite your food or else it may drop off the wires. when you are through with orthodontic treatment, you will where a flipper which is a tooth attached to the retainer. this will be worn until you have completed your implantation process. you will have to take care of the fake tooth just as you would your real teeth or else mouth will be smelly

  3. no its goin to be connected to ur braces and retainer so we u get ur retainer if u take it out the fake tooth will come out its conneted to the wire and yes u should wash it so it doesnt look dirty...........its not connected to r gums eitheir.........just treat it like a normal tooth :) good luck

  4. if it is attached then yes if not no but it depends on which one it is

  5. Ask your dentist for sure, but I would say for the most part treat it like your own and if you can clean around it every now and then.

  6. I have a missing tooth too

The tooth on your braces is merely for looks, it doesn't do anything, it doesn't even keep the space open.

The one on my braces moved and it was very annoying, I ended up biting into something and popping it off.

    All for the better.

Just brush your teeh like you normally would.

The tooth on the retainer works much better in my opinion, it looks much more real and it doesn't move.

Unless you pop your retainer in and out... which is amusing.

    :]

If you end up not getting a tooth in your braces, don't worry

    most people don't even notice.

  7. sounds confuesing

  8. Yes, treat them as your own teeth b/c they still get buildup and it can cause plaque on your gums so you need to protect the area the tooth is in for future reasons.

  9. most likely connected to the little retainer (flipper) ...

Not to worry...just a part of the treatment, and all will work out in the end.....
