Missing windows xp config.exe

Question

Have a HP Pavillion A620n that had a hard crash. Used the backup copies to reinstall all the software. Things worked well until it came to the Windows XP Home screen then a rectangle window came up saying that the Windows Config.exe was missing or corrupt and to try setup again. did this with the same results. Is there anyway to get the missing windows xp config exe so the backup copies will work?
