Mission Impazible with royal blue silks to participate in the New Orleans Handicap
The Twin Creeks Racing Stables owned 5-year-old horse last year came of the Grade 2 New Orleans Handicap at Fair Grounds Race Course under the banner of the Twin Creeks Racing Stables, as the Todd Pletcher trained older horse will be going for a double
in the same race under the same banner, but with different silks as he did last time around.
The Kentucky bred son of Unbridled’s Song, out of mare La Paz by Hold Your Peace, Mission Impazible was run under the silks coloured lime green with chocolate brown diamonds in the front and sleeves, when he downed the New Orleans Handicap and the 2010 edition
of the Louisiana Derby when he was vying for the Kentucky Derby.
This time around when the horse takes the field for the New Orleans Handicap he will have a set of royal blue silks over him, with the slogan saying “GO BIG BLUE” and on the back there will be the logo of the University of Kentucky.
Along with Mission Impazible running on 1 April, 2012, the Louisville basket ball team will be taking of the top seeded Wildcats, when they visit New Orleans for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four.
Kentucky’s matchup against their bitter rivals will go underway a day before Mission Impazible run for the New Orleans Handicap.
Mission Impazible will be going up against Nehro, Redeemed and Pants on Fire in the New Orleans Handicap, which is to be run over a distance of 1 1/8 miles over the course’s dirt track.
“He’s just a good-doin’ horse,” said Randy Gullatt. “He tries hard in the mornings and he’s never failed to show up in the afternoons. We were very pleased with his final move and feel like we’re coming into the race in great shape.”
Last year Mission Impazible defeated the likes of Apart in second and Giant Oak in third to take the New Orleans Handicap, topping the 1 1/8 mile distance in 1 minute and 49.02 seconds, and since then there have been seven races between the 2011 and 2012
edition of the New Orleans Handicap, but Mission Impazible failed to turn in a single race, instead finished second on three occasions.
