Mississauga Steelheads hire former OHL, OJHL, ECHL, Canadian junior team coach Jason Nobili
Jason Nobili, who has previously been coach of many other teams since he started his coaching career 16 years back, has been appointed as assistant coach and assistant general manager of Mississauga Steelheads in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).
His last appointment was assistant coach with Team Canada East in the World Junior championship under-19, which was one of his jobs, after he started his coaching career with Toronto Red Wings, a midget league team GTHL.
Head coach and the General Manager of the Mississauga Steelheads, James Boyd was happy to have Nobili as his assistant coach and assistant general manager. He thinks that Jason will do a lot of his help and would be beneficial for their team as he said,
“We are very excited to have Jason join our staff. Jason is a well respected coach whose knowledge and professionalism will be a benefit to our organization”.
The 38-year-old professional coach was also very happy to join the Steelheads in the league where he has already worked before. He has set his sight on working with all their players, would love to the job for a longer period and would be looking to help
them in winning many more laurels as he said,
“I am excited to be part of the new Steelheads organization. I’m looking forward to working with the Steelheads players and coaching staff for the upcoming season, and for years to come”.
The Bolton, Ontario native is a certified ice hockey coach after passing the level 4 category of the coaching. He is a former student of New York University and Niagara University, from where he has done Bachelors and took his degree.
Nobili has previously been coach of Ajax Axemen in the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League (OPJHL), Owen Sound Attack in the OHL, Team Ontario in the Canada Winter Games (CWS), Canada Ontario under-17 team, which he led to gold medal win in world hockey
championships, Florida Everblades in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL), Reading Royals in the ECHL, Oakville in the OJAHL and Toronto Junior Canadiens in OJHL.
He would be looking to join his new team on 29th August as the training camp kicks off.
