Missouri invitational and its top 5 individuals and teams
The University of Missouri Johnie lmes invitational finished with 3 players tied for the second place. It was a three day event, which ended on Tuesday. The Colorado women’s golf team had three players in the top five for the tie at the Old Hawthrone course.
The Missouri invitational witnessed the Colorado team end the tournament after playing a total of 878 strokes. Their score placed the Colorado University (CU) team for a tie with team Oklahoma for 2nd place. The event was won by Oklahoma State
after earning the win through their 863 score with an impressive 1 under.
According to the CU coach Anne Kelly, the team played a good game but lacked putts. Kelly said that although the performance has been rather acceptable by the team, they still didn’t take a lot of putts. Regarding, Oklahoma State’s performance, the coach
said that the team displayed a good game and they deserved the win. The coach compared her team to the Oklahoma State team and said that although they had good shots, they needed to grab more birdies for the win.
Team CU was led by the top player Jessica Wallace, who finished her game after achieving a tie at 3 under. The female golfer carded a total of 213 and needed only a par to achieve the victory at the 6,204 yard golf course.
According to the junior Wallace, her round had been up and down all day. She says that her tournament was tough and her main focus has been to play her game. Wallace said that she had been trying to display her best number but there were a number of putts
she missed. She said that some of her shots didn’t materialize the way she thought they would.
Other than Jessica Wallace, another player to finish at the top ten was Emily Talley. Talley was seen tied in 7th place after carding a score of 217. Among these golfers, Kristin Coleman also appeared with her recognizable score. At the end of
the tournament, the freshman was tied at ninth place after carding a total of 220.
Oklahoma State topped the leader board with a total score of 863. The team carded its highest score in the first round of 293. The team slowly caught the hang of the course and made lower scores of 286 and 284.
The second place at the Missouri Invitational was a tie between Colorado and Oklahoma whereas the fourth place was achieved by Florida international with a score of 885. The team carded the highest in its first round with a 304 and the lowest 289 in the
second round. However, the team couldn’t display the same quality of golf in the last round and ended up carding 292.
The tournament’s individual topper was C. McKim from Oklahoma State. The golfer achieved a total score of 212 and scored the highest number at the first round. Her second and third round had comparatively lower scores of a 68 and then a 71.
Victoria Park was also tied for the first place after a 212. The golfer scored a 72 in the first round but finished the second round with a higher score of 75. Her third round was much kinder to her and she carded a score of 65.
Colorado will next be hosting the Heather Farr Memorial on Friday and Saturday. The event will be held at the Colorado National Golf Club in Erie. The tournament will be starting at 8 in the morning on Friday and Saturday and will be open to the public.
