Misstree Pitcher set to make winning handicap debut in Santander Handicap Hurdle at Sedgefield
Misstree Pitcher has not yet opened her account, but looks well prepared for an outstanding handicap debut after a superb seasonal comeback last month. The Brian Ellison-trained will be seen in the Santander Handicap Hurdle at Sedgefield on Thursday, September
6th.
After a gap of more than 13 months, the 7-year-old returned strongly in the West Warwickshire Mares' Novices' Hurdle. Under Danny Cook, she led early to put the rivals under a lot of pressure.
Owned by Prism Bloodstock, the bay mare was in total command, but unfortunately started weakening when blundered in the final stages. The 11-8 still managed to end up among top-3 in the West Warwickshire Mares' Novices' Hurdle at Stratford last month.
Although she made a massive mistake last time, the form she showed in the beginning makes her a solid option for today’s class 4 contest. Following a decent run last time, the daughter of Relief Pitcher has picked up the rhythm, and one can easily expect
her to appear with an improved effort today.
The thrill will be begun at 15:55 GMT. The going is good to firm, and eleven horses have stepped into the battle in search of a handsome cash prize worth £2,534. The race will be held over two miles and four furlongs, thus stamina is the key to success.
Callisto Moon is another fascinating runner. Trained by Jo Hughes, the 8-year-old did a few wonders early in the season. He made many good outings, but the highlight was an excellent hat-trick that he strike in June-July.
After proving too strong for his rivals at Catterick, the son of Mujahid stamped his rivals at Ayr. Owned by B. Bedford & Mrs Gill White, the bay gelding registered his third consecutive victory at Sandown. Even though he faced a couple unlucky defeats lately,
there is no issue with his confidence.
Nevertheless, the Barton Stud-bred will have to emerge with a special effort in order to outclass Misstree Pitcher, who will be more than determined to make a wonderful start to her handicap journey. An exciting battle between the two skilful runners is
on the cards. Good luck to all the participants.
