Missy Franklin captures Women’s 200 yards freestyle gold – AT&T Winter National Championships
Missy Franklin of STARCO captured gold medal of the Women’s 200 yards freestyle on day two of the 2012 AT&T Winter National Championships in Austin, TX, USA on Friday, November 30.
Shields spoiled the party of her opponents in the 100 yard discipline as she surfaced on the finishing end for gold medal.
With her immaculate efforts in the eight-lap discipline, Franklin gave no chance to her opponents and transpired on the finishing end for gold medal by producing an effort of 1 minute and 42.42 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Erika Erndl of T2-FL, who stayed 1.04 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and reached the finishing end for silver medal by touching the wall with a timing of 1 minute and 43.46 seconds.
Erndl was traced by Karlee Bispo of TXLAST, who stayed 0.53 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and touched the wall for third position with an effort of 1 minute and 43.99 seconds.
Fourth position of the race was obtained by Katie Ledecky of NCAPPV, who stayed 0.57 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and settled on the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 44.56 seconds.
Ledecky was traced by Simone Manuel of FCSTGU, who was 0.30 seconds away from upsetting her former swimmer and tapped the wall for fifth place with an effort of 1 minute and 44.86 seconds.
Sixth spot of the discipline was obtained by Kylie Stewart of DYNAGA, who remained 0.40 seconds slower from her preceding swimmer and ended her race in a time of 1 minute and 45.26 seconds.
Similarly, Stewart remained 0.41 seconds faster from Quinn Carrozza of UN01ST, who remained prominent for second last spot of the race and posted a time of 1 minute and 45.67 seconds.
Carrozza was chased by Lia Neal of AGUAMR, who failed to overpower any of her challengers and ended eighth in the race by posting a time of 1 minute and 45.95 seconds.
In addition, Franklin expressed contentment over her unmatchable effort and stressed that she would continue her hard work in order to achieve the same in future.
