Mistakes made by different National Hockey League teams in the transfer agency: part 2
There were some more moves made in the transfer agency which may prove to be wrong. They are mentioned below.
Edmonton Oilers
Edmonton Oilers signed two of their upcoming forwards Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle in long term deal few days back. 22 years old Eberle was signed for six years and $36 million and Taylor was signed for seven years for $42 million.
Now it may not be the right decision to sign players who are so young and inexperienced, for such long deals. They have been playing NHL for just two years.
Minnesota Wilds
Minnesota Wilds bought two of the most expensive players in this transfer agency, one of them being Zach Parise and other being Ryan Suter. Both of them were signed in identical contract for $98 million and 14 years.
Both of them surely are two of the best players in the league but there is always a doubt if a team spends so much. Spending $196 on two players may not be the most suitable deal and the results will come out once it begins.
Nashville Predators
Nashville Predators made of the most interesting decisions of this transfer agency when they matched Philadelphia Flyers’ offer sheet for Shea Weber of $110 million for 14 years. The player had become a restricted free agent and it looked as if they had
almost lost him when Flyers’ made an offer sheet for him.
Such a huge offer sheet was not expected to be matched but Nashville did it to secure the services of their defenseman as they did not want to lose both of their star defenseman. But now it would be interesting to see if proves out to be the right decision
for Predators or not.
New Jersey Devils
If buying Zach Parise was a doubtful deal, even selling him may not be the right option, which New Jersey Devils made. They got so much money for it as they were given $98 million for the deal. But releasing player of such a calibre and not re-signing him
can always be a wrong decision.
Parise is one of the top forwards of the game and had served New Jersey Devils so much in the last few years. He had been their top scorer for some years and was a very influential player which they are going to miss for sure.
