i got my tourist cards for Cuba from Thomas Cook yesterday, filled out my partners no problems, when it came to mine, i made a sight error in the spelling of my hotel name. Rather than put Oa i put Os in the spelling of Oasis. I have made the S into an A but am now worried my card is Void. Can anyone advise if they hav made mistakes and whats happened to them? i fly the 16th july from Gatwick with thomas cook...many thanks

  1. Because you have made a mistake on the hotel name that will be fine, they are more concerned about your date of birth and passport number been accurate and no mistakes on them, I spelt the name of our hotel wrong on my tourist card when we went at Easter and it was accepted, stop panicking or you will be so stressed by the time you go you won't be enjoying yourself, have a fab time, Cuba is just amazing.

  2. best advise is get a new one

pop in to you local Thomas Cook travel agent

they will give u a new one

  3. Be careful not to make any mistakes when filling it out. If you do make a mistake, neatly cross it out and enter the correct information next to the appropriate category. Do not attempt to erase or "white out" the error. If your card is damaged or has too many mistakes it may have to be replaced at a cost to you of between £20.00 and £30.00 prior to departure or upon arrival in Cuba. Try to avoid the latter option because of the delays it will cause at the airport.

    And from a travellers forum:

"I thought I'd better warn you....

I went to Cuba in the summer, with family, my brother filled his tourist card in wrong, and we phoned Thomas Cook, who said we had to buy 1 at the airport, we bought a replacement for £15! Filled it in, then got on the plane and went to cuba.

When we got there, the immigration officer told my brother to step back, wouldn't let him into the country! We had all gone through. The same happened to a young girl, about my age (19) after interigation, they told my brother and this girl that their visas where worthless, Thomas Cook had not put their stamp on them, and they'd have to buy a new one, for £10!

The poor girl did not have any money on her, as her friend had already gone through, and wasn't allowed back to give her the money. My brother gave her the £10, she would have been deported otherwise!

Check your tourist cards are filled in, and if you have to buy a replacement one, check it's stamped! Our holiday could have ended in tears!"

  4. I'm sure you're not the first person to make a spelling mistake, if you are really worried about it phone Thomas Cook and ask them to send a new one, but i doubt it's anything to worry about.

  5. Contact Thomas Cook and if your still worried contact the Cuban Embassy.   Even though its a very popular tourist detsination it is a communist state and even the slightest administrative error can get you in trouble so I'd make doubly sure first.
