Mister Twirley and No Reception to collide in the Alfa Aggregates Products Novices’ Chase at Ludlow on 5th April
Ludlow is to host the Class 3 Alfa Aggregates Products Novices’ Chase over two miles and four furlongs on Thursday, 5th April. The race has assembled a lineup of seven runners who are five-year and older thoroughbreds. The purse for the race is
set at £6, 330.
An entry on the lineup who has raced three times out of the four starts at Ludlow during the new season is Mister Twirley, Zagreb’s eight-year-old bay gelding out of mare Dotties Rose. However, none of the starts turned into victories.
He cracked into the new season through the Ludlow Members Club Room Maiden Hurdle on 5th January at Ludlow over two miles and five furlongs.
The race was won by Zahirah Moon while the runner up was Changing The Guard. Mister Twirley was declared unraced after knocking the jockey off. The 8/11 favourite of the race, Persian Snow, came twelfth.
His last two races were at Ludlow and he ended sixth in both. On 22nd February, he lost the Corve Selling Hurdle over two miles and five furlongs. The race was won by Hassadin while the 7/4 favourite of the race, King Of Castile, qualified as
the runner up.
Cityar managed the fourth position behind the winner.
Next he finished sixth in the Horse Weigh Novices’ Chase on 1st March over two miles and four furlongs.
The race was won by the 2/1 favourite of the race, Tiger O’Toole, who was soon joined by U B Carefull. Settling third behind the winner was Silver Roque.
Not that Mister Twirley has achieved anything outstanding, it is just that he has more experience and exposure regarding the race course where he has to race today.
Another entry who has recently raced and failed at Ludlow is No Reception, Mister Mat’s eleven-year-old bay gelding out of mare The Lar. His two starts out of the three ventures he undertook were at Ludlow.
He finished fourth in the season’s opening race, the Annual Members Racing Excellence “Hands And Heels” Handicap Chase (Conditionals/Amateurs) on 5th January over three miles.
It was won by the 85/40 favourite, One More Dinar.
Next race in which he failed was the Annual Members Cheltenham Preview On 1st March Maiden Hurdle on 22nd February. The title was taken away by Low Gales.
