Mitch Clarke makes hopeful UFC debut at UFC 140 – UFC News
The Canadian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Mitch Clarke will be entering the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He will be fighting in his debut UFC bout at UFC 140. He will be facing American MMA fighter John Cholish when
UFC 140 takes place on December 10, 2011 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
Clarke, the 26-year old MMA fighter from Sakatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada would be elated to fight his debut UFC bout in his own country. He will bring an impressive undefeated streak when he enters the UFC octagon fight ring against
Cholish. He has won nine bouts in his MMA career and lost none, with no drawn fights either. Fighting in the lightweight category, Clarke will make history by becoming the first ever UFC fighter who is from Saskatchewan, Canada.
While talking about the excitement he was feeling for fighting for the UFC, Clarke said, "I knew I wanted to fight because I love competing, but I never thought I'd fight in the UFC. It's one of those things you dream about it
but you never actually think it's going to possibly materialize. And that sounds bad but at the same time you try to be realistic. You see so many guys fight for so long and never make it there. For it to happen to me, it's so crazy."
Currently, Clarke is training in Edmonton, Canada. Before taking up MMA, he was a boxer and fought as a karate and taekwondo. He was also a wrestler at his university. He got his early MMA training from the Champion Fight Club
located in his hometown of Saskatoon. Clarke, who stands at 5ft 10in and weighs at 155 lbs (pounds) has given martial arts trainings but is now concentrating on his own MMA career.
Clarke’s debut with the UFC, the world’s largest MMA promotion in the world is of great value to him, but he has been an MMA professional for a few years. He was a collegiate MMA fighter and later made his way in other MMA promotions.
He has won titles in the welterweight category while fighting for The Fight Club (TFC) and for the Evolution Fighting Championship (EFC).
