Australian duo, Mitchell Johnson and Shane Watson are a major doubt for the national team ahead of the first Test match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754.
Johnson, suffered an injury to the main joint, while Watto has a hamstring complaint, which has made them doubtful for the upcoming Test match which sees the Kangaroos take on the Kiwi’s from December 1st at Brisbane.
Both suffered injuries in the final game of their South African tour, which consequently was won by the Aussies by a margin of two wickets. While both have been struggling for form, it is expected that if fit, both will be available for a direct place in
the side.
“Mitchell Johnson has an injury to the main joint of his big toe in the left foot,'' Australia's physiotherapist http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Alex-Kountouris-c43123 said. "The scans will be reviewed in the next 24 hours and he will also be assessed by medical staff at the WACA on return to
Perth.”
"Shane Watson had a scan that has confirmed the extent of the hamstring injury he sustained in the first innings of the second Test. He will be monitored over the coming days to determine his availability for the first Test in Brisbane.''
Apart from the New Zealand series, the Kangaroo team will take on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in a four match Test series, which begins from the third week of December so the management will be keen on having both injury- free, which will allow them to rebuild after the appointment
of new head coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mickey-Arthur-c1969.
While the all-rounder has been their top most performer over the past 12 months, his contribution in the recently concluded tour of the Proteas was limited in terms of batting, where he managed to score just 95 runs in four Test innings. However, with Watto
burdened by the added responsibility of bowling, his position as an opener has become under questioning due to the added work load.
As for the pacer Johnson, he too was not at his best on the tour, grabbing just 3 wickets in the two five-day games but his contribution with the bat came in handy in allowing the team to level the series after going 1-0 down.
