Mitchell Johnson, the talented Australian pacer, is hopeful of setting aside all pressures and turning up with a better bowling show in South Africa, in a bid to steer his side to bag the second consecutive series victory of the season.
The bowler is delighted and satisfied to have bowled well in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, and aims at replicating the same against the Proteas. He has expressed complete confidence on his skills, unlike the critics who are questioning his spot on the national squad.
Johnson thinks that his match-winning performances against the Lankan http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808 have provoked the national selectors to pick him for the upcoming series which consists of 2 T20Is, 3 ODIs and 2 Tests.
Talking to the media, the tall man said, “I actually felt I bowled pretty well, pretty consistent over in Sri Lanka. Obviously I didn't get the wickets. That's what the selectors want to see - wickets and runs. But for me I felt like I bowled pretty well,
pretty consistent. My pace was up.”
He further told, “There's always been pressure to perform and there's always guys there pushing the envelope to get the spot to be in the team.”
The Aussies won both ODI and Tests series in the sub-continent last month, taking a first leap towards regaining their lost pride in International cricket. Now, they are all padded up to strike against the Africans on October 13.
This series will be of great importance for the host nation which has not won any competition since the dawn of the calendar year.
Johnson believes that the Kangaroos, who are rapidly passing through the transition phase, are turning out nicely with immense talent in both their bowling and batting departments.
“As a bowling unit I think we bowled well as a group. That was the most exciting thing for me,” stated the speedster while recalling his team’s last series.
The 29-year-old has played 45 Test, 104 ODI and 28 T20I matches since his International debut in 2005, grabbing 187, 163 and 36 wickets respectively in the three formats.
