Out of favour Australian all-rounder, James Hopes, believes that the left-arm fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MG-Johnson-c1945’s bowling action has changed since the last couple of years, is the reason for his inconsistent performance.
Johnson has the potential to be a match-winner for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 but he has failed to deliver the goods for his country on a regular basis. Off-late, there have been big question marks over his place in the Test team after some very ordinary showings in Sri
Lanka and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.
However, the Aussie selectors are still persisting with him in hope that he will regain his bowling form sooner than later.
Johnson was at the peak of his career a couple of years ago during the tour of South Africa, where he was almost unplayable at times. It was thought at that time that he is going to bear the burden of Australian bowling attack for the years to come but his
progress has been a massive disappointment.
Hopes believes that when the left-arm fast bowler was at his best, his action used to be more high-arm as compared to what it is right now and his arm has considerably gone lower, which he believes is the reason why Johnson is not able to move the ball in
the air regularly.
The all-rounder said, "I am not sure whether he is trying to maintain his speed so he has had to get more of a slinging action. His arm is lower. There are a few guys who can swing the ball from that low. Malinga can do it. I am not sure how. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Daryl-Mitchell-c52533 has got
a very slingy action. It has changed a lot in the last couple of years."
Johnson bowled with a short run-up in the second Test against the Proteas recently and Hopes is of the opinion that the left arm fast bowler does not need a long run up to bowl fast and he should look to do that more often in order to prolong his career.

"We always said to him in the nets he felt just as quick off his short run. Maybe that is the way forward for him," he added.
