Mitchell Marsh keen on making Test debut for Australia – Cricket News Update
Australian youth all-rounder, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mitchell-Marsh-c1974, who recently served his debut limited overs stint for the national side against the South African hosts, is determined to follow his father Geoff and brother, Shaun’s footsteps in making a Test premier for the Kangaroos.
“Test cricket is the pinnacle, and I’ve put a lot of hard work into my long format of cricket. So it’s something I’m definitely striving for,” Marsh said on Monday.
As for his recent, first ever international appearance for Australia, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Simon-James-Marshall-c90362 admitted that his premier was a nervy situation for him, but with the likes of the country’s greats such as Ricky Ponting, the whole affair seemed to turn out successfully.
“It was an eye-opening experience to learn a lot from the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RT-Ponting-c2377 and all the other senior players, seeing just how hard they work in training. Obviously they’re still normal blokes, but the training and intensity they train at is awesome. The crowds were pretty hectic over there. But I guess it’s just more the intensity and learning to deal with the pressure,” said the 20-year-old Aussie.
Australia’s second Twenty20 (T20) outing against the Proteas on October 16, came as Marsh’s debut game for his national roster.
Batting at the lower order, the youngster whacked an imposing tally of 36 runs, with the aid of 4 sixes, earning the second highest score on the line-up after Skipper Cameron White’s addition of 39 runs.
As for his run at the 3-match One Day International (ODI) leg of the tour, Marsh made a one-off appearance for the Aussies, during the triumphant series opener at Centurion, where right armer batted a not out contribution of 8 runs, while under the bowling department, the pacer bagged a single wicket, sending off South African Captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/HM-Amla-c1557 in the 10th over of the Proteas innings.
With Marsh out of the Test squad for now, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 will face the South African side in the 1st game from the 2-match Test series, set to be played at Cape Town, on November 9, 2011.
