Mitchell Pratt occupies Boys 200m backstroke gold – 2013 GHSF Australian Championships
Mitchell Pratt of Tigersharks occupied gold medal of the Boys 200m backstroke in 17-18 years old category on fifth day of the 2013 GHSF Australian Age Swimming Championships in SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre, Adelaide on Friday, April 12.
The 17-year-old Pratt devastated hopes of his opponents in the distant backstroke discipline and rushed his way towards the finishing wall for first position. With his unrelenting efforts in the event, Pratt faced no competition from his opponents and secured
the title.
Pratt remained prominently ahead of his closest competitor as he emerged on the wall for the title with an effort of 2 minutes and 01.79 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Ryan h**e of Woden, NSW, who was almost 0.80 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 02.52 seconds.
The second fastest swimmer was followed by Jack Gerrard of Melbvicentre, who was 0.42 seconds apart and tapped the finishing end for bronze medal with the timing of 2 minutes and 02.94 seconds.
The third position holder was followed by Ray Bornman of Mackay, who was 0.73 seconds behind and clocked a time of 2 minutes and 03.67 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Robert Gerlach of East Brisbane, who was 1.18 seconds slower and posted a time of 2 minutes and 04.85 seconds.
Subsequently, Gerlach was chased by Brad Ashby of New Zealand, who was 1.03 seconds slower from his former finisher and posted a time of 2 minutes and 05.88 seconds for sixth place.
Seventh spot of the swim was secured by Nicholas Brown of Western Sprint, who was 0.13 seconds slower and posted a time of 2 minutes and 06.01 seconds.
Last spot of the race was obtained by Nicholas Brown of Western Sprint, who was just 0.05 seconds apart and hit the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 06.06 seconds.
In addition, Pratt received a huge round of applause from the crowd for his notable pace and collected awards and accolades at the prize distribution ceremony after the conclusion of race.
