Mitchell Starc's debut for Yorkshire against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gloucestershire-c785 at Bristol in the LV=County Championship tomorrow is doubtful as the Australian pacer is facing some visa problem.
The 22-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 medium pace was detained for up to five hours upon his arrival at Heathrow on Saturday due to some visa error. It has been reported that Starc’s visa application has been incorrectly filled.
The Yorkshire captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Gale-c1039 confirmed that Starc’s availability for Wednesday’s county championship game has been thrown into doubt due to problems with his visa.
“http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yorkshire-c867 captain Andrew Gale confirmed on the eve of the match against Gloucestershire.
The Yorkshire County Cricket Club has blamed Cricket Australia for the incorrectly filled visa form. The lanky pacer has only today’s time to get the issue resolved, otherwise he would have to fly back to Australia to sort it out
before returning to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 for a second time.
“Fingers crossed he will be available. He got detained on Saturday, but he’s here. We have until today to sort it out otherwise he’s going back,” said Gale.
"I don’t think Australia filled out a form correctly when he was out in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, and he spent four or five hours being questioned in the airport. If we can't sort it out, we'll have to drop him at Heathrow on the way down
to Bristol,” he added further.
White Rose director of professional cricket, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Martyn-Douglas-Moxon-c74955 however, was hopeful the issue will be cleared up today.
The 22-year-old left-arm pace bowler has initially signed a five-week deal with the county and was due to play four County matches during this time. He is likely to get a call from Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 for the tour of England in June
for a one day and T20 series. However, Moxon, Gale and Yorkshire coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jason-Neil-Gillespie-c66461 are hopeful Starc would extend his stay.
“If he gets called up for Australia, that takes priority. But we’re hopeful he’ll be here for the majority of the summer,” Gillespie said.
To date, Starc has played 22 first-class matches and has claimed 59 wickets.
