Australia’s young pacer, Mitchell Starc, is pleased to have received the baggy green along with two scalps today, December 1, 2011, in a Test game against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754, played at Brisbane, claiming that he will never be able to forget this auspicious day.
After receiving his Test cap from the former legend, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BB-McCullum-c1129, and the maverick middle-order
batter, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JD-Ryder-c1679, on 34 and 6 runs respectively, breaking down the courage and stamina of the visitors.
The speedster is jubilant at the honour he has bagged on the very first day of his Test career. He asserted that he will never forget the day.
Talking to the media at the end of the first session, Starc said, “It is a day I'll never forget. Just to get that baggy green (cap) is a pretty proud moment for me and to get a couple of wickets as well is fantastic.”
About the eve of accepting his green cap, he told, “It was a special moment for me and I won't forget that moment for the rest of my life. He (Benaud) just said a few things that over the last few years he's been watching me and I actually sat on a plane
on the way home with him after an ODI (one dayer) I played here last year.”
The left-arm pacer's excellent bowling helped his side restrict the Black Caps on 176/5 on the rain-hit Day 1 of the match. Despite this, Strac is not going to take the Kiwis easy tomorrow, avowing that they still have some strong batsmen like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DL-Vettori-c1384
and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dean-Brownlie-c1349 in their remaining line-up.
Starc is one of the three players who have staged their Test debut today. The other two are http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Pattinson-c1653.
The Sydney-born guy played his maiden ODI match in October 2010. He is lucky to have received a Test spot after playing just 17 First-Class games.
