Mitchie Brusco becomes youngest skater to land MegaRamp 900
The world’s second MegaRamp 900 has been landed and the boasting rights are held by a 14-year-old Mitchie Brusco.
The young rider from Kirkland, Washington, pulled off the trick during a practice session at the Nescau MegaRamp Invitational in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Friday, July 1. He performed the trick on a 30-feet high Nescau MegaRamp quarter-pipe located at the Sambodrome
in Sao Paulo.
Brusco accomplished something that only the Brazilian professional skateboarder Robert Dean Silva Burnquist, better known as Bob Burnquist, has in his list of accomplishments.
Sikle Oakley’s Burnquist attempted to pull off a 900 in X Games last year but to no avail. However, he managed to finish what he started by throwing a flawless fakie to fakie 900 right in his own backyard. The feat made him the fifth skater in history to
have successfully pulled off a 900. Others in the list included Tony Hawk, Georgio Zattoni, Sandro Dias and Alex Perelson.
By executing the 900, Brusco made a place among the prestigious 900 club. Not only that, he earned the boasting rights of being the youngest skater to have acquired the honour.
Hawk, the biggest name in the sport of skateboarding and the original innovator of 900, sent out an applause to Brusco via his twitter account on Friday, which read, "Congratulations to Mitchie Brusco with the cleanest 900 to date ... on a MegaRamp."
Hawk himself had created history by exposing the world to the first ever 900 in July 1999.
The young talent is currently competing in the second round of the MegaRamp Championship Series. By adding a 900 to his arsenal, he must be feeling a lot more confident while taking on an extremely intimidating line-up, which includes the likes of Burnquist,
Rob Lorifice, Adam Taylor and Jake Brown, on Saturday.
After the second round wraps up, the action sports athletes will head to Los Angeles for the X Games 17 in the last week of July and then make their final stop in Vista, California, in September.
