India’s spirited young player Mithun Manjunath lived up to the expectations as he played remarkable badminton and claimed Boy’s Singles U15 title at the Belgaum 3 Star Karnataka State Ranking Badminton Tournament 2012.
The in-form Mithun showed his aggression on court in the final contest and overpowered his lower ranked challenger Syed Saad Ali in a commanding fashion on Tuesday, September 4, in India.
The higher ranked Mithun, who was the top seed in main draw of Boy’s Singles U15 category, remained consistent on court and stretched his winning run to earn glory.
The top seeded Mithun played with remarkable speed and controlled the pace of rallies in an impressive fashion. He dictated his rival in all areas and won the match in straight games with a decent difference on score board.
In the meanwhile, the second seeded Saad Ali also played good badminton in both games but he failed to live up to the expectations in the concluding stages and eventually lost the match with a reasonable margin.
The in-form Mithun started his journey in the title match in a thrilling fashion as he played with precision and remained confident on court in the opening half.
However, Mithun could not earn a reasonable lead as his second seeded opponent also played in the similar fashion until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the impressive Mithun geared up his speed in all areas of the court and managed to grab a reasonable lead.
The top seeded Indian player remained consistent in the ending points and took the set with a reasonable 21-18 margin on score board.
The second game was not that tough for Mithun who played attacking and controlled badminton this time. He was impressive in taking the bird early from all areas and maintained his upper hand until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Mithun continued his positive play without sparing any chance for Saad Ali to get closer on score board. He managed to end up the second set with a comfortable score of 21-16.
The incredible Mithun won the title in a fascinating manner with a 21-18 and 21-16 score in the final battle.
