Mitsubishi Big-screen Television, Model # MS-45609. The problems take affect once the t.v. warms up only. When cold, it acts fine. Sometimes five minutes, sometimes hours. Seems to be worsening in depth of bows of color, and the ghostlike effect. i.e., a golf ball has a ghost as does the hole(yellowish tint). I am curious to know a possible diagnosis and perhaps whether self repair is a possibility. I like the set however, I want not to pay too much to have repaired if in fact I can change a "known" part myself safely, hopefully! Thanks in advance for your response.

  1. Your TV picture is out of alignment.  There should be an adjustment you can do yourself.  With your TV on find the k***s color coded red, green, and blue, or perhaps picture alignment.  Carefully adjust these k***s one at a time until your colors all blend in and the ghosting disappears.  You should also be able to find some instructions on how to do this in the Troubleshooting section of your TV's owners manual.  Good luck.

  2. Convergence amplifier problems....your Red Green and Blue pictures are separating...yellowish tint tells me your blue is separating from your red-green (that makes yellow).

    So....

You may need to resolder the convergence amps, and if you get it done quickly, you may not need to replace the convergence amplifier....

Cost difference : $200 to solder.....$380 to replace amp...

It only takes a couple weeks to damage an amp. Erratic connections just beat the heck out of those amps.

And sometimes, I have to come back and replace it anyways...
