Mixed Martial Arts Promotions?

Ive been doin martial arts for many years now and training in mma for about 3 years now and im finally happy enough with my skill set were i would like to compete. I was wondering if ther is a place online were i can find local promotions and so on. or how would i approach this situation in find myself fights?

Most gyms either sponsor amateur tournaments or have challenge matches against other area gyms to get experience for their students. I would think the easiest way would be to talk to the instructors wherever you train.

Use the internet - look up MMA in your zip code and you should find something.  Look around at martial arts gyms in your area too - a lot of them host local competitions you can enter.  If you want to find a local competition in a national show, look for:

Toughman

Hayustan Grappling Challenge

and search on Bullshido, Sherdog, etc. for fights in your area.  There are lliterally hundreds of event organizers nationwide -  you can compete if you look around a little.

Ask the people in your MMA school at which you train at..

I'm sure you're not the only one who is interested in doing so & other people there should have some sort of information about that..

If your instructors or people that work there don't know, then another person training with you might have an idea.. I'm sure your intructors have some knowledge, becuase it's probably not the first time they're being asked.. Goodluck

Small (correction:  tiny) promotions exist through MMA schools all around the country.  They will often put on events with their fighters and fighters from other schools.  Call the nearest MMA school and ask them, I'm sure they'll have some sort of information for you.

Finding one on the internet may not be possible, as many promotions are so small they don't even put up a web site.
