How does man know that he is an MMA fighter? Mix Judo and Muay Thai, Aikido and Savate, Capoeiru and Boxing, or simply knowing one martial art as Brazilian JuJitsu, Vale Todo or any like those... I study Aikido, Muay Thai, Wing Tsun and few more, and Im trying to make my self a WuShu fighter with out those fancy moves (katas) and pointless jumping, would that be mistake?

  1. If you study many different martial arts and hold legitimate ranks in them then this makes you a well rounded martial artist and not an MMA fighter.  Most MMA fighters have never stepped foot into a dojo and learned an art.  I like some of the fighters in MMA but most are not martial artists, just fighters.  IF you want to be a WUSHU fighter you need to learn how the competition trains and what moves you are allowed to use.  This always screwed me up back when I competed in my early 20's.  I learn all of these nerve strikes, pressure points, limb breaks, throat, groin, knee, eye strikes and can't use any of it.  You have to train entirely different for a sport and unfortunately a sport martial art won't save you outside the ring against a "psycho" who wants to kill you.

    Think about it...
