Mixing Jazz with rock--where did it go?

Question

I've always liked it when 80s rock bands would incorporate some jazz into their songs. Especially saxophone solos like the one in 'Urgent' by Foreigner and the sax intro in 'Careless Whisper' by Wham.

Does anyone else miss that, or wish it would come back?

Don't forget the 70's, there was the classic "Baker St."

Also, there are a lot of ska bands that had some success in the 90's.

And, if you're really adventurous, you might give a listen to Candiria, they are jazz/metal and pretty listenable, in my humble opinion.
