Question:

Mixing front mic and and lav on an XL2?

The Canon XL2 manual just doesn't make sense to me, but this doesn't seem like it should be that hard: What I want to do is record one channel from a wireless lav that goes into an XLR input on the back of the camera, and record the nat sounds from the on-camera mic on the other channel. Surely this is possible!

Thanks in advance.

  1. Sorry, its been a long time since I've handled an XL series, but I seem to remember a flip down panel on the body behind the eye piece (sort of opposite the tape deck) that would let you reconfigure the audio to your liking with two or three levels of control, but you've probably already tried all that, so again sorry.

  2. Last time I checked, you could use the XLR mic-in or the built-in... but not both at the same time...
