Physical or chemical change?

Please explain?

Does it give any clues that it also underwent chemical change? Even for undergoing physical change?

  1. Yes, there are several clues or "indicators" that a chemical reaction has occurred.

    1.  The formation of a gas

    2.  The production of an insoluble (or undissociated) product, a precipitate forms or water is produced (acid/base reaction)

    3.  Temperature change (reactions get hot or cold sometimes with no other visible product)

    4.  Color change

    Physical changes involve changes in form or appearance, but not the formation of new substances.
