The iconic developer is set to unveil a number of titles for the Nintendo Wii U such as a new Super Mario bros., Mario 4 and Pikmin 3 at the Electronic Entertainment Expo this June.
In every industry there are icons that stand out for their contributions, Warren Buffet, Steve Jobs and Donald Trump are just a few of the names of people who became celebrities because of what they did in their field of work.
The video game industry is no different as it too has icons such as Robert Bowling for his work on the Modern Warfare series, Cliff Bleszinski and his studio Epic Games, Hideo Kojima for gifting the world the industry defining Metal Gear Solid series.
Yet, there is one person whose contribution to the gaming world can never be ignored and that person is Shigeru Miyamoto, the person who gave birth to two of the most iconic series in video game history, namely Mario and The Legend of Zelda. Oh, and also,
he was the person who came up with Donkey Kong as well.
It turns out that Miyamoto is set to define the direction that Nintendo’s first High-Definition video gaming console will be taking by announcing a number of titles at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo in June.
According to reports, Miyamoto will not only announce two new Mario games but gamers can also expect to hear of a Pikmin 3 announcement as well.
A report claimed that “in a recent interview, Mr. Miyamoto confirmed that a new Super Mario Bros. game for the Wii U system will be shown at this year’s E3 Expo. We’ll have more to announce about our plans for the E3 Expo at a later date.”
It should be noted that the quote above is not directly from Miyamoto himself, so everyone should take the news with a bit of salt. Yet, it does make sense to launch a new console with titles that will encourage gamers and when it comes to video games, very
few series have a history as rich and diverse as Mario.
It seems that we will have to wait until June to find out for sure if the Nintendo Wii U has the support of Mario from the start or not, though we expect it will.
