Miyu Ohtsuka pockets Women’s 400m IM gold: Day one - Tatsumi International Pool, Tokyo
Miyu Ohtsuka pocketed gold medal of the Women’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) on initial day of the Tatsumi International Pool in Tokyo, Japan on Monday, April 2.
Ohtsuka destroyed hopes of her competitors in the final of distant IM discipline. With her notable efforts, she showed no leniency to her challengers and reached the podium for gold medal.
Her scintillating effort remained prominently away from the world mark of 4 minutes and 29.45 seconds as she clocked an effort of 4 minutes and 36.64 seconds to obtain gold medal of the discipline.
Gold medallist was followed by Miho Takahashi, who stayed 1.07 seconds slower from her former finisher and settled on the medal rostrum for silver medal by producing a time of 4 minutes and 37.71 seconds.
Third spot of the race was obtained by Maiko Fujino, who remained nearly one second slower from her former finisher and posted an effort of 4 minutes and 38.55 seconds for bronze medal.
Bronze medallist was followed by Emu Higuchi, who failed to substantiate on the victory stand and ended her swim in fourth best place by touching the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 41.10 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Kyouka Suenaga, who stayed nearly 1.50 seconds slower from her former finisher and posted a time of 4 minutes and 42.67 seconds.
Suenaga was followed by Sakiko Shimizu, who was 0.93 seconds slower from her preceding finisher and posted a time of 4 minutes and 43.60 seconds for sixth position.
Shimizu enjoyed an advantage of almost three seconds over Masami Uchikoshi, who clocked an effort of 4 minutes and 46.70 seconds for seventh position.
The last spot of the event was obtained by Wakaba Hashiguchi, who stayed nearly three seconds slower and posted a time of 4 minutes and 49.97 seconds for eighth position of the event.
The session came to an end after the invincible efforts of all swimmers in the distant IM event whereas these podium finishers received accolades for their undisputed struggles at the medal ceremony of the championship.
