Miyuki Maeda, Satoko Suetsuna make it to Women’s Doubles semi-finals – Australian Open  
It seems there is no end to the victories of Women’s Doubles team Miyuki Maeda-Satoko Suetsuna of Japan as they trod into the semi-finals of the Australian Open GP Gold on April 6, 2012.
Top seeded female duo Miyuki-Satoko ensured their presence in the second last round by overcoming Vita Marissa-Nadya Melati in the quarter-finals with final figures of 15-21, 21-15 and 21-10.
The epic tussle was certainly a tough trial of mental and physical strength as it prolonged to three exhausting sets which got resolve in 63 minutes.
In the opening game of the match, the World Number 13 duo Vita Marissa-Nadya Melati stunned their rivals by applying their prime badminton skills.
Though, they blundered at few stages which allowed the Japanese to put a decent total of 15 points on the board but they stood firm later and stretched themselves to full against their rivals.
The duo of Vita-Nadya ended the first set in their favour with an impressive total of 21-15.
World Number five Japanese duo Miyuki-Satoko did not take the pressure of first set loss and successfully lift the burden in the following game.
They proved their technical and tactical supremacy over their lower ranked competitors and dominated most part of the game.
Indonesians utilised their self-confidence which they earned from first set and tried to unseat their rivals with some good rallies but their confidence got shattered when they could not control the overall pace of the rallies.
The female Doubles experts Vita and Nadya surrendered after reading the final 15-21 score on the board.
The third set proved last nail in the coffin as the Japanese ladies hammered their Indonesian rivals with great ease. They kept their opponents busy just in returning to their masterly crafted strokes.
The twosome of Miyuki Maeda and Satoko Suetsuna proved themselves technically far superior to their challengers as first they earned valuable five points with powerful smashes and when the duo Vita-Nadya was completely on back foot they pocketed 6 crucial
points with dropping net shots.
The Japanese swept the board with a distinctive margin of 21-10 in the end.
This 2-1 victory took them into the semi-finals where they will meet the Taipei couple Cheng Wen Hsing-Chien Yu Chin.
