Miyuki Takemura and Dinko Jukic dominate heats at the 2011 FINA Swimming World Cup
Japan’s Miyuki Takemura and Austria’s Dinko Jukic dominated the heats of the 2011 FINA Swimming World Cup series being staged in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from October 7-8. The session of the competition organised the Women’s 50m back-stroke and Men’s 200m butterfly heats.
Takemura went full throttle in her swim and powered the finishing wall with a scintillating mark of 27.58 seconds to claim the Women’s 50m back-stroke heat. Meanwhile, Daryna Zevina of Ukraine finished second with a time of 27.59 seconds. Ranomi Kromowidjojo of Netherlands and Fabienne Nadarajah earned third position with a matching time of 28.67 seconds.
Czech Republic’s Simona Baumrtova finished fifth with a mark of 28.72 seconds, while United Arab Emirates’ Gabriella Austin settled for sixth spot in 31.13 seconds. Charlotte Lechner of United Arab Emirates got seventh position with a mark of 32.19 seconds, whereas, Jolene Tan was placed eighth in a time of 32.37 seconds. Jenny Balac of United Arab Emirates earned ninth position with a time of 32.50 seconds, while Rhea Castelino settled for tenth position in a time of 33.97 seconds.
The Men’s 200m butterfly heat was clinched by Austria’s Dinko Jukic with a stunning mark of 1 minute and 59.99 seconds. Russia’s Andrey Tambovskiy finished second with a time of 2 minutes and 01.53 seconds, while Chad Le Clos settled for third spot with a mark of 2 minutes and 01.86 seconds. Rami Anis of Syria finished fourth with a time of 2 minutes and 01.88 seconds, whereas, Velimir Stjepanovic earned fifth position with a time of 2 minutes and 02.28 seconds.
Alexander Kudashev of Russia got sixth position with a time of 2 minutes and 03.22 seconds, while David Wong earned seventh spot in 2 minutes and 05.54 seconds. Ayman Klzie of Syria wound up eighth in a time of 2 minutes and 06.65 seconds, whereas, China’s Zihao He earned ninth with a mark of 2 minutes and 07.23 seconds.
Abdulaziz Almarzooqi of Qatar finished tenth with a time of 2 minutes and 23.13 seconds. Qatar’s Abdulrahman Alishaq settled eleventh with a time of 2 minutes and 35.78 seconds, while Khaled Ismaeel of Brunei wound up twelfth with a time of 2 minutes and 39.33 seconds.
The winners of the heats are scheduled to take on each on each other for a podium berth in their respective meets.
