Mizuki Fujii, Reika Kakiiwa enter Women’s Doubles pre quarter-finals – Indonesia Open Update
Japan’s Mizuki Fujii-Reika Kakiiwa defeated Lok Yan Poon-Ying Suet Tse and earned the right to be in the pre quarter-finals of Djarum Indonesia Open on Wednesday, June 13, 2012.
This 56-minute tussle held in Istora Senayan Stadium of Jakarta and both couples took the game to next level before placing final figures of 16-21, 21-11 and 21-18.
The victorious duo will now lock horns with Chinese pair Bao Yixin-Zhong Qianxin for a seat in round of eight.
Earlier in opening match, the Japanese girls came back from a horrendous start and secured honour by winning last two games.
On the other hand, the Hong Kong shuttlers failed to rise on their toes in final stage of the contest and crashed out of the event.
This battle got started with Lok Yan and Ying Suet gaining an immediate advantage by grabbing very first match point.
They took some time to set themselves in right momentum as they were standing at same level until 5-5 but then couple of power packed rallies helped them to put a decent total of 11-6 before the interval.
After mid-game break, they kept their rivals busy just in returning their masterly crafted strokes. They doubled their lead with 16-12 and then capitalised this advantage by registering 21-16 score on the board.
However, it was their last success in this contest as Mizuki Fujii and Reika Kakiiwa did not give them even a single chance to rise from the dust.
World Number four pair hammered their competitors in second set and brought the tussle to right balance.
This time they read their rival’s game early and launched an effective counterattack strategy. Their coordination was superb as they did not show any sign of confusion after first set loss.
The Japanese shuttlers bagged crucial game with a notable 10-point difference in concluding figure of 21-11.
This revised status locked both teams in survival of the fittest war. The match kept swinging between two contenders as they remained toe-to-toe all the way to final moments.
Finally, the twosome of Mizuki Fujii and Reika Kakiiwa ended this race with a favourable margin of 21-18.
