Mizuno MP-57?

I am a 1.8 hcp and I currently play a set of Titleist DCI 962b's (made in around 1997) and I have been very happy with them. I hit them well but as with everything else today, technology can help sometimes to crazy levels. I was stubborn with my previous driver-about 5 years old at the time and stayed with that after the new wave came through- now have a Titleist 905s (which i hear is now old), but I hit that aobut 15-20 yards farther and 2x as straight. I am thinking the same thing may apply to irons. Not so much in the area of length (7 iron 175), but in accuracy. I went to a club fitter who has quite a good reputation and initially i had said if i were to change it would be to the Callaway X forged, but he said that he was not a fan of that club long term, and in adjusting the lie for previous people, they have developed stress fractures. He said he was a fan of the MP-57's and that he would like to see me try them.

Any thoughts or impressions based on the MP-57's?

  1. Haven't tried the Mizunos, but did buy the Callaway X-Forged a year ago and they are great.  I don't see how a club causes a stress fracture?  A bad swing maybe, a tree root, but not the club.  Not sure what correlation the fitter might be making there.

  2. I have personally tried them, and they are a great set.

  3. I believe the fitter is referring to fractures appearing while he is preforming adjustments to the club like changing the lie angle,Mizuno are great forged clubs not sure but maybe the Callaway's are cast as cast clubs can break while being adjusted
