Oleg Mkrtchyan believes that the Russian Premier League club is moving in the right direction despite partying company with Dan Petrescu
Kuban Krasnodar owner, Oleg Mkrtchyan, has insisted that he is doing everything possible to fulfill his dream of making the Russian outfit as one of the top Russian Premier League clubs in the near future.
Mkrtchyan made these comments after Dan Petrescu’s shocking departure from the Russian outfit yesterday.
The Romanian tactician, who arguably was primarily responsible for the Yellow-greens promising league campaign last season, decided to quit after increasing interest from CSKA Moscow and Dynamo Moscow.
Mkrtchyan complemented the former Southampton player, who left the Krasnodar-based club with tears in his eyes, saying that Petrescu did a lot for the club during his stay and they will remember his part for years to come.
There is little arguing to the statement that the Cossacks would not have finished 7th last season had Petrescu not made remarkable signings last year. Petrescu signed Lacina Traore last year. The Ivorian striker scored
18 goals in 38 league appearances.
Kuban finished just nine points behind mega-rich Anzhi Makhachkala last season.
Mkrtchyan admitted that Petrescu, who promoted Kuban from the Russian First Division to the premier league in his debut season, helped the Russian outfit during his stay and urged the fans to respect his decision.
“We should not blame him and must accept his desire with maximum understanding and respect because he did a lot for us. I sincerely want to say thank Petrescu. He will be imprinted in the history of our club as a great man, great
coach and a legend.” The Russian national was quoted as saying.
Kuban now have signed Russian national http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/U-17-Youth-team-c40787 head coach, Yuri Krasnozhan. The former Anzhi Makhachkala manager signed a three-year contract with the Russian outfit. Mkrtchyan expressed his delight after making the breakthrough,
insisting that the Kazaki are moving in the right direction.
“I want to assure the fans that, despite his sudden resignation, the team is not left to their fate as we have signed an excellent replacement for our former coach.” He concluded.
