The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hamburger-SV-c39485 striker is set to part ways with the club at the end of this season as the Red Shorts look to add young players to their squad.
It has been confirmed that Hamburg striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mladen-Petric-c26139 is set to leave the club at the end of this season on a free transfer. The player’s current contract will expire by the end of this campaign and the club is not willing
to offer the attacker an extension.
Hamburg sporting director, Frank Arnesen, has also confirmed about the striker’s departure at the end of this term. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 director of sport stated that the club is aiming to add talented young players into their squad
prior to the start of next season and that the situation has already been clarified to the former Borussia Dortmund attacker.
Petric has had an injury plagued season so far with the Imtech Arena outfit and has appeared just six times for the club. The player has been an important part of the club in the past few years as he has 35 goals to his name until
now from 84 league appearances.
While talking to reporters about Petric’s departure news, Arnesen added:
"It was important to clarify the situation as quickly as possible. Mladen has scored a lot of goals for Hamburg, and he is still an important player but we have opted for another route."
On the other hand, Petric expressed his disappointment at his departure towards the end of this season. He admitted that he has great affection for the club and wished to renew his contract. However, he showed gratitude to his
bosses who have allowed him enough time to find a new employer for himself before the next campaign starts.
"I would have liked to have signed a long-term contract but it is not possible at Hamburg. At least the decision has been taken and I can look to the future," Petric concluded.
It is believed that the attacker will tie knots with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/SC-Freiburg-c40462, who lost Papiss Demba Cisse to Newcastle United during this year’s January transfer window, provided they stay in the top division.
